The possibility of "Assassin's Creed 5" being set in Feudal Era Japan is likely, according to "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag" creative director Jean Guesdon.

In an interview with VG247, Guesdon spoke mainly about the making of AC4, but did acknowledge a possible game location that has become highly associated with the franchise.

"Feudal Japan remains - like numerous other time periods and locations - a possible future setting for the franchise because thanks to the Animus. The entire human history is our playground," Guesdon told VG247.

Since the beginning of the "Assassin's Creed" franchise, fans have been asking for a game set in Feudal Japan and be able to play as the deadliest of ninja assassins.  However, a location in Egypt seems to be more likely if you believe a leaked game still released bares any truth to it.

Back in 2012, an image popped up on an official Ubisoft forum with a character that resembles one found in an Absertgo email chain in AC4.  The character appears to be a dark-skinned man with a strong physique and gray hair looking over at the unfinished pyramids.  The game still may give Egypt location rumors legs to stand on, but there are no confirmed reports of a setting or release date for "Assassin's Creed 5". As for what will happen in the Present Day story line, Guesdon wasn't very specific but assured fans they are developing new ways to explore their AC universe.

"We had to acknowledge that somehow, and saying bye to Desmond to allow people to be themselves in our universe is something that was at the core of the pitch of Black Flag," Guesdon told VG247.  "The present day sections of Black Flag are the perfect vehicle for fan service; giving more information about what fans may know, and for universe exposition, exposing to newcomers the incredible content that's already been developed."
