Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have taken the step they had kept on hold for two years. The Hollywood couple filed for divorce on Thursday and is parting ways amicably. Also, the duo has sought joint physical and legal custody of their three children Seraphina, Violet, and Samuel.

Fans of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were not expecting them to separate but the couple has finally taken the divorce route. According to Los Angeles Times, the estranged duo has decided to part ways and Garner filed for divorce on Thursday citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation. However, the filing was made with mutual consent as no lawyers were involved by either of the parties.

Also, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have sought joint physical and legal custody of their three children, daughters Seraphina and Violet and son Samuel. Notably, the two had announced their decision to divorce in June 2015 but they did not go ahead with the legal procedure. They also stayed together in the same house and it was said that they were working on resolving their differences.

Insiders claim that their children were their first priority and despite the differences, the two had decided to co-parent. In fact, they did the co-parenting job pretty well as the family was seen on many occasions in public. Some days back, they also celebrated the birthday of Samuel and it was a cheerful fun-filled family celebration.

However, it looks like the delay in divorce proceedings and the co-parenting could not bring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner closer. They are set to part ways and since they do not have any prenuptial agreement, it is said that they will divide their post-marriage earnings equally and in all likelihood, settle the matter out of court.

It is worth mentioning here that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married in 2005 and over the course of their marriage became parents to three children but in 2015, they announced their divorce.
