Google, the tech giant released the Android Wear 2.0 OS recently for the Android smartwatches. Sony officially confirms that the new update won't be supported for the SmartWatch 3, which ultimately dashed the hopes of many SmartWatch 3 users in the tech market.

According to Xperia Blog, Sony SmartWatch 3 users have a bad news for the smart wrists as the company confirms that Android Wear 2.0 OS will not be supported in it. In this response, SmartWatch 3 users are not happy and have started a petition to get Google and Sony to change their mind. The petition has over 1,500 signatures and also asks their SW3 users to fill in.

As per the Sony Product page, Sony clearly mentions "SmartWatch 3 SWR50 supports up to Android Wear 1.5. Android Wear 2.0 and onwards are not supported." On the official release of Android Wear 2.0 OS from Google, the list of smartwatches supporting the new update was not seen with the Sony SmartWatch 3.

The other smartwatches that are eligible to receive the Android Wear 2.0 update are Asus ZenWatch 2 & 3, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch, Casio Pro Trek Smart, Fossil Q Founder, Fossil Q Marshal, Fossil Q Wander, Huawei Watch, LG G Watch R, LG Watch Urbane & 2nd Edition LTE, Michael Kors Access Smartwatches, Moto 360 2nd Gen, Moto 360 for Women, Moto 360 Sport, New Balance RunIQ, Nixon Mission, Polar M600, and TAG Heuer Connected.

Sony SmartWatch 3 SWR50 sports a 1.8 Transflective display with 320 x 320 resolution, Quad ARM A7, 1.2 GHz coupled with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB eMMC, a battery which lasts up to 2 days, supports up to Android Wear 1.5 OS and water resistance IP 68 features. Also, the connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.
