OnePlus Company has been giving tough competition to tech giants with its amazing smartphones - OnePlus 2, OnePlus 3 and the recently launched OnePlus 3T. Speculations already bubble in the media about the next flagship of OnePlus. It could probably be named as OnePlus 4 or OnePlus 5. There are chances of it to be named as OnePlus Y or something like that.

Speculations of ditching the name OnePlus 4 are up. The Chinese tech giant might not use the name OnePlus 4 due to a belief that 4 is an unlucky number as it is pronounced similar to the word "death." In that case, OnePlus Company may not take a risk with this number hence, the phone could be called OnePlus 5.

Per a Reddit user who asked OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei during a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) regarding the next flagship, Pei neither accepted nor denied the skipping of OnePlus 4. However, the founder expressed it as a good idea.

If we look on to the names of smartphones released by OnePlus till date - OnePlus One (2014), OnePlus 2(2015), OnePlus X (2015), OnePlus 3 (2016) and OnePlus 3T (2016), it can be speculated that the new smartphone will not have a numerical rather an alphabet.

When it comes to features, rumors suggest the upcoming phone might have a ceramic texture with upgraded resolution, 2K AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with the Adreno 540 GPU, matched with 6 GB of RAM (with 8GB RAM option).

If OnePlus fans focus on the releases of previous phones it is OnePlus One in April, OnePlus 2 in July, OnePlus X in October, OnePlus 3 in June and OnePlus 3T in November. Considering these dates the upcoming flagship might be unveiled in between June and October.
