It was on December 8, 1980, that the Beatles legend, John Lennon, was shot dead by Mark David Chapman just outside his home in New York City, US.

Was Chapman an FBI spy? That is the claim made by a number of Conspiracists. Some FBI documents that were out in 2010 revealed that Lennon had been "deported" many times before he died.

Six years before the death, John Lennon said on August 23, 1974, that he had met a UfO. And that too, "face-to-face." Is there a connection, then, between his confessions of having met UFOs and his tragic death?

The musician said that he saw a strange object when he was standing on the top of a New York apartment. According to the 34-year-old: "I saw a UFO and it went down the river, turned right at the United Nations, turned left and then down the river. It wasn't a helicopter and it wasn't a balloon. It was silent, it looked dark and had white lights."

Lennon's secretary and lover, May Pang, who wrote in her book, 'Loving John,' talked about other UFOs. She wrote that she saw a "large, circular object coming towards us."

She gave an interview to Larry Warren from the Merseyside Anomalies Research Association, explaining: "He [Lennon] told me that more than once he suspected he had been abducted as a child back in Liverpool. And he felt that experience was responsible for making him feel different from other people for the rest of his life."

Uri Geller too revealed that John Lennon had told him that he had been abducted by aliens on a night when he was with Yoko Ono. He had said: "Something happened. Don't ask me what. Either I've forgotten, blocked it out, or they won't let me remember. But after a while, they weren't there and I was just lying on the bed, next to Yoko, only I was on the covers," he said.

He agreed that the aliens had left a "metal egg-like object" in his hands, which he handed over to Uri.

Lennon continued to be riveted by UFOs even later. In a design for the Walls and Bridges album cover, he clearly indicated an alien spacecraft as the "focal point."

After it was released, he went back to Yoko Ono and dropped out of music for over five years.

It was only after he returned that he was killed - suddenly.

The reason behind the killing continues to be as unidentified as a UFO, but rumors whisper he was killed because he was being open about his knowledge of UFOs.
