There is another rock star coming to help Captain Jack Sparrow out! Paul McCartney will join Johnny Depp for the next installment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The legendary singer will make a cameo in the film for at least one scene.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is the fifth edition in the mega-popular Disney franchise that also stars Geoffrey Rush and Orlando Bloom, who was last seen in 2007’s “At World's End.” Javier Bardem is the newbie among the cast and plays the part of the villain, Captain Salazar, with Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario also playing new characters.

Production on the fifth film already wrapped, but directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning went back and built an extra set piece that was made specifically for the scene that McCartney will partake in and not a re-shoot.

McCartney is not the first British rocker to make an appearance in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. Rolling Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards took on the role of Sparrow’s pirate father Captain Teague in the third film, “At World’s End,” and again in the fourth film “On Stranger Tides.” Depp’s performance of Sparrow, which landed him his first Academy Award nomination in 2004, was partly inspired by Richards’ look and his mannerisms. There have been rumors that the Rolling Stones’ member will again return for “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” but nothing has yet to be confirmed.

McCartney is known to the masses for his music, but the musician also appeared with his Beatles band mates John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in two films, “A Hard Day's Night” and “Yellow Submarine.” The 73-year-old music legend and his band mates also won an Academy Award for Best Original Score for “Let It Be.”

The last “Pirates of the Caribbean” film “On Stranger Tides” was released in 2011 and brought in $240 million. The most successful film in the franchise is the second film, “Dead Man’s Chest,” which grossed over $420 million. In total, All four films have made well over $1 billion.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is set to arrive in theaters on May 26, 2017.
