The ability to install Android apps on most Chromebooks is a feature which many Chromebook owners were waiting. Chromebooks are adding to this disappointment of Chrome OS fans.  According to a recent developer channel update, Android apps are now extending to more Chromebooks soon.

Users can now install Android Apps on the Acer Chromebook 14Acer Chromebook 15 and the Asus C300, according to ChromeUnboxed. Three Chromebooks will now have access to the Play Store via the Chrome OS Developer channel. However, for owners of Acer Chromebook 14 or 15, there's slightly a little more work involved.

For owners of the C300, you simply need to go to the Developer Channel to access the Play Store. Go to settings menu, choose "About Chrome OS," then click "Change channel" and select the "developer channel." After that, the Asus C300 will download the desired update and will prompt the user to reboot the device and complete the normal installation process, reports TechTimes.

For the owners of the Acer Chromebook 14 and Acer Chromebook 15, the setup process is slightly more complicated, but feasible however. For getting the detailed instructions, you can refer to this step-by-step process which is demonstrated by 9to5Google.

The important thing is that more Chromebooks will be getting the support for Android apps. It's expected that Chromebooks will get access to the Play Store via the Stable Channel upon the launch of Chrome OS 55 in early December.

Moreover, the Play Store may also finally remove its Beta status and officially roll-out to support Chromebooks upon the release of Chrome OS 56 that is around mid-January

So far, Acer R13 Chromebook, the Dell Chromebook 13, HP Chromebook 13, Samsung Chromebook 3, and ASUS C301SA had got the access to the Play Store in the beta and developer channels. Users can hope that these Chromebooks and more will also get the access in the new push.
