The Minnesota Timberwolves is hitting the trade rumors as of late. After recent struggles in the ongoing season, many pundits are saying that the Timberwolves are going to an early rebuild and trade some valuable players while taking valuable assets in return. New rumors are now saying that Karl-Anthony Towns could be heading to the Los Angeles Lakers and team up with fellow 2015 draftee D'Angelo Russell.

Earlier reports are saying that Minnesota team president and head coach Tom Thibodeau is very anxious with the team's current situation and now looking for some veteran players that can help the team salvage their season. One name on coach Thibs' wish list is Lakers' forward Luol Deng.

Deng, who played for coach Thibodeau for four full seasons with the Chicago Bulls, is said to be struggling in the early going of the season. Many say that he is having a hard time to fit into Lakers coach Luke Walton's system. And with coach Thibodeau pronouncement that he wants to acquire his former player, a trade deal is being suggested on the trading table for both teams.

A proposed deal is suggesting that the Minnesota Timberwolves will send Karl-Anthony Towns to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Luol Deng, Jose Calderon and Brandon Ingram. Though the trade seems to be viable to both teams, one roadblock is preventing this to happen right now.

As per NBA trade policy, Deng could not be traded as he just recently signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the Lakers this offseason which means that he cannot be moved until December 15. Although the trade will not happen for now, this could something to ponder about between both team after the said date.

Gamenguide also signified the same scenario of moving Towns to the Lakers. Aside from him, the Timberwolves are also considering to trade Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn to teams that could give them a high-value player in return.

If the Towns-Deng trade is not feasible, the Timberwolves could also look for the Chicago Bulls as a trade partner. Bulls' forward Tag Gibson is also in coach Thibs list and a trade package Cole Aldrich, Gorgui Dieng or Jordan Hill could entice the Bulls.
