Marvel's movie "Doctor Strange" had a massive opening, paving the way for the sequel, "Doctor Strange 2," which seems to be inevitable now.

"Doctor Strange" turned out to be beyond the expectations of the viewers. So far, the movie collected $85 million at the US box office, with a global total of over $300 million. With such phenomenal success at the box office, the next step would ideally be the sequel "Doctor Strange 2."

In an interview, director, Scott Derrickson also revealed that there are many signs of progress that could be made into the plot, reports Den of  Geek. He further stated that inspite of featuring a lesser-known superhero, Stephen Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, the Marvel Studios along with the Disney movie earned almost $240.4 million so far and it is sure to make more in terms of collections.

Notably, along with the raging box office results comes the remarkable review of "Doctor Strange." Starting from the overall impact of the Marvel movie to Cumberbatch's onscreen presence and growing star power has been appreciated by viewers as well as critics. This further makes the situation perfectly apt for a sequel of the movie.

Coming to the plot of "Doctor Strange," Cumberbatch plays the role of a top surgeon. After injuring his hands in a car accident, he seeks out the help of the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), who is a master of the mystical arts.

Rumors suggest that after "Doctor Strange," Cumberbatch will be seen in a cameo appearance in "Thor: Ragnarok," which hits theaters this November. Additionally, his appearance in "Avengers: Infinity War," which will release in 2018, has been confirmed, reports Hollywood Reporter.

It must be mentioned here that inspite of the immense speculations, Marvel is yet to confirm "Doctor Strange 2." All that can well be assumed now is that the sequel is in the pipeline, but the release dates are to be announced officially.
