Nina Dobrev is sure to return to television but it's not with "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 but to another show. She just confirmed her return but not to reprise her role as Elena in the said series.

According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Nina has just joined the cast of the Season 7 of "Workaholics". With that, Nina Dobrev is guaranteed to return on TV.

But is there still hope that Dobrev will be able to return in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 and bring back Elena for a possible reunion with Damon played by Ian Somerhalder or maybe Stefan played by Paul Wesley?

It has been reported on Headlines and Global News that the "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer, Julie Plec has confirmed the return of the actress in the said show. But with another project for Dobrev, that dream has been shattered.

Nina Dobrev will be the guest star on "Workaholics" Season 7 and she will be playing a character that is in some kind of supernatural coma. This was just confirmed by TVLine following Nina's posting of a video from what appears like behind the scenes looks and that she's having fun with the whole cast.

At this moment, there are no added details on whether Nina will just have one time appearance in the said show or her character could awaken form the coma and then she will be made regular already.

It can be recalled that Elena, her role in "The Vampire Diaries" brought the cure and so she became human but was put into a state of suspension. With this state, she is neither dead nor alive.

Then, she handed everybody a diary to record everything before she departed the world. Eventually, when Elena awakes from this state, she can possibly read what she definitely missed.

It can be a lot intriguing at the same time fascinating that Nina Dobrev's guest appearance on "Workaholics" also features a supernatural coma. But Nina is new to a role in comedy.

 Meanwhile, Nina will also star in the upcoming action-thriller film, "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" which is set to hit cinemas in 2017.

If Nina Dobrev will only be a guest star in the said show, there is a chance that she will still join Damon and Stefan in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.
