Apple has been always known as the premier innovator and leading smartphone company. Well, not until Samsung stole Apple's title and sales.

The Cupertino Company may have been behind Samsung, in terms of newest innovations and smartphones sales, but it still has high hopes with its newest devices.

Apple recently launched the Apple Watch Series 2 alongside its newest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus earlier this month.

Now, Bloomberg is reporting that the company is looking to penetrate the $8 trillion global health-care industry with its Apple Watch Series 2 and HealthKit.

Apple may be looking to make this plan a reality with its newly acquired startup company, Glimpse Inc. Glimpse Inc. has already been able to develop a software, which draws digital health records from various databases and formats into one storage location.

On the other hand, the Apple Watch Series 2 is targeted to be the device that can collect the needed health data of users through Apple's HealthKit.

Apple's HealthKit can already collect fitness data from devices like the Apple Watch Series 2. But the company is looking to transition from merely collecting fitness data to interpreting data valuable to users and doctors.

If made possible, both Apple Watch Series 2 and HealthKit can be very valuable assets to Apple. These can improve tracking, diagnoses and even health records sharing between users/patients and doctors.

Because of the value of Apple Watch Series 2 and HealthKit to both users/patients and doctors, everyone will have no choice but to stay with Apple and continue using its devices. Thus, eliminating the tight competition with other brands.

For now, Apple is looking into introducing new apps for its Apple Watch Series 2. These apps include Sleep Tracker and Heart Rate Interpretation (note time needed for heart rate to rest from its peak level).

However, some are already arguing the logic of Sleep Tracker in Apple Watch Series 2 as early as now.

The device can only work for about 18 hours, which means that an overnight charging is always the case.

Because of this, it will be impossible to use Apple Watch Series 2 Sleep Tracker at night and still use it during the day for its main purposes.
