"Criminal Minds" Season 12 will still see Thomas Gibson even though he has been axed from the popular TV series, while cast member Aisha Tyler has been promoted to a series regular. Aside from that, the official plot description of the premiere episode 'The Crimson King' has been revealed by CBS Network.

According to Hall of Fame Magazine, Thomas Gibson, who plays the role of Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner and one of the lead actors of the show, will still be appearing in the upcoming season of "Criminal Minds". The 54-year-old American actor and director will make a guest appearance in the first two episodes of season 12.

Gibson has been officially axed in the show after having an on-set altercation with series scribe and producer Virgil Williams. Despite what happened, the team of series scribes still managed to pull off a story plot for him to give the actor a smooth exit in the storyline.

Aside from that, cast member Aisha Tyler, who portrays the role of Dr. Tara Lewis has been promoted to a series regular for "Criminal Minds" Season 12, International Business Times has reported.

Dr. Tara Lewis happens to be an FBI forensic psychologist who was a recurring character in the previous season.

As for the official plot synopsis of the premiere episode of "Criminal Minds" Season 12, Spoiler TV notes,

FBI (Fugitive Task Force) agent leader Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) joins the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) team, which is tasked with capturing a killer who escaped prison with 13 other convicts at the end of last season.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 1 is entitled as "The Crimson King". The upcoming season is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 0:00 p.m. first and exclusive on CBS Network.
