CBS has officially started the search for the replacement of Thomas Gibson as BAU Unit chief Aaron Hotchner in "Criminal Minds" Season 12.

CBS management fired the actor after he kicked writer-producer Virgil Williams on set. Erica Messer, one of the Criminal Minds' showrunner, witnessed the incident.

A report from TVLine disclosed that CBS is actually looking for two actors to deal with the need for a new regular and fill the vacancy of Gibson.

The kicking incident happened while the two were in the middle of a heated argument while filming one of the "Criminal Minds" Season 12 episodes.

Reports revealed that CBS decided to fire Gibson since the incident was not his first. He was previously reported for shoving an assistant director of the show few years ago.

For his part, Gibson hired Skip Miller and Sasha Frid, from one of the top law firms in Los Angeles, to handle the filing of possible legal claims against the show's producers.

As the search for Gibson's replacement continues, it was rumored that Adam Rodriguez of "CSI:Miami" has been casted for a regular role as Luke Alvez, a new BAU agent. Asha Tyler on the other hand was made a series regular playing the role as Dr. Tara Lewis.

The premiere episode of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 will be on Sept. 28.
