Its been a few years since "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was initially revealed, and with its release just around the corner, developer Naughty Dog has revealed several new details about its multiplayer mode that is sure to knock everyone's socks off.

These details include the fact that all future maps and modes will be included with the game at no additional cost and all vanity and gameplay in-game store items will be unlockable through gameplay.

Naughty Dog revealed on the official PlayStation blog its plans in four points:

Fairness First: "We strongly believe that players must be on an even playing field. To do this, we made Relics, a currency that can only be earned through gameplay and will be able to unlock all DLC, present and future. We will be putting future gameplay items ranging from Mysticals to Boosters into DLC Gameplay Chests. Each Chest will contain new gameplay items."

An Evolving Experience: "We intend to keep the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer experience as fresh as possible for as long as possible. Over time, Naughty Dog will release a variety of new maps, modes and gameplay items at no additional cost (including Co-op), that will introduce new rules and play styles."

DLC Accessible to Everyone: "It was our goal from the start to give players the ability to earn DLC items through gameplay. No DLC item is available exclusively using Uncharted Points."

Unified Community: "The idea of delivering our DLC this way was greatly influenced by the goal of having a unified community. Maps and modes will be available to everyone on the same day. This will ensure that all players are kept together and experience new content at the same time."

In short, the core component of "Uncharted 4's" multiplayer DLC economy revolves around relics. Players obtain relics by completing daily challenges and winning matches and then use those relics to obtain either a DLC Vanity Chest, which includes items like skins, hats and taunts or DLC Gameplay Chests, which include items like weapons, mysticals and boosters. The best part about all this is that these chests will never contain duplicate items, meaning that they might not contain what you want, but they'll always be new.

The details on what these daily challenges entail are unclear, but it's possible that they share a commonality with the challenges players had to complete in "The Last Of Us" MP. If true, it would be more evidence that  Naughty Dog learned quite a bit from "TLOU."

However, this doesn't mean that those who purchased the Triple Pack will be left high and dry. As Naughty Dog notes, anyone who purchased the pack will have future access to the first-ever single-player story add-on for the Uncharted series, as well as two multiplayer packs which include:

MP Pack #1

- Long Gun
- Booster
- Skin
- Hat
- Taunt

MP Pack #2

-Pistol
-Booster
-Mystical
-Hat
-Taunt

Lastly, Naughty Dog revealed a roadmap graphic that details that the developer intends to release content for the game through Spring 2017. Players might have had to wait a while for "Uncharted 4" to come, but it looks like Naughty Dog will be supporting it for quite some time.

This bombshell has been received quite favorably, and for good reason. This whole development is a far cry from the model MP shooters have used in the past which had players use real world money to purchase any future content the game might offer. Even in its most recent MP shooter, "TLOU," the community was split depending on what maps it had. In fact, the only game in recent memory that deviated from this model was "Mass Effect 3," and with a 2012 release date, plenty of MP shooters have arrived since then.
