The list of potential quarterback targets for the Denver Broncos keeps on growing. After striking out on Brock Osweiler, Denver tested the waters of free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick but he was deemed too expensive. Then, the team turned its attention to Colin Kaepernick. However, a financial snag has put any deal with the San Francisco 49ers on the back burner, for now. Just yesterday, it was reported that Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak had spoken with Johnny Manziel, but that pairing seems unrealistic at this point.

Today comes word that Denver may actually be sniffing around another Cleveland Browns quarterback: Josh McCown.

According to the report, the defending Super Bowl champions would "consider trading for McCown or signing him in the event he's released if they don't land [Colin] Kaepernick."

Though McCown isn't the ideal option to lead a team with Super Bowl aspirations, he may be the only available one if things break a certain way. It's very possible that McCown will become expendable in Cleveland, following the signing of Robert Griffin III in free agency and the expected arrival of a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft. Regardless of the situation, McCown is going about his business like it was any other day.

"I'll come in and compete and do everything I can to help our position group to be better and let all the rest of those other things sort themselves out," the QB said earlier this week. "My job is to be ready and go and help this team."

However, it's also possible that the Browns air on the side of caution and keep McCown. RGIII has an extensive history of injuries, and the top two quarterbacks in this year's draft - Cal's Jared Goff and North Dakota State's Carson Wentz - are not considered Day 1 starters. After all of the QB turnover the Browns have endured over the years, a trial by fire for yet another rookie passer who's not ready to start should be the last thing on Cleveland's mind.

McCown, 36, is entering his 14th season in the league and has played with six different teams in his career. He appeared in eight games for the Browns last year and threw for 2,109 yards and 12 touchdowns with four interceptions.
