The Miami Heat have been gaining traction lately as a team that some think could surprise a lot of people and make a run in the Eastern Conference playoffs. A lot of that hope is tied to Chris Bosh potentially returning, but that doesn't seem likely at this point.

With Bosh's future a major question mark, the Heat are trying to make do with what they have. They signed Joe Johnson earlier this season and he has had a nice impact, but they may not be done adding. Miami still has a couple of open roster spots that they can fill if they so choose, and it seems as though they will.

The Heat have had discussions with forward Dorell Wright and are expected to reach an agreement with him as early as this weekend. Wright spent this season playing in China after he couldn't get a deal in the NBA, but his season over there is over now, and he has been drawing significant interest from NBA teams.

It was reported earlier this week that Wright was one of a few players under consideration to fill one of the open roster spots, but now it seems like a deal is imminent. Wright wanted to sign with the Heat this past offseason, but they couldn't come to an agreement because Miami didn't have room for him, but they certainly do now.

The reason it has taken this long for the Heat to try and fill those last roster spots is because they have been very cap-conscious this season. Signing Wright earlier would have put them into the luxury tax this for the season, something that they have been desperately trying to avoid, but the prorated version of a minimum salary will now fit under the cap for the Heat.

In his 37 games in China this season, Wright averaged 24.3 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 44 percent from the field and 35 percent from three. The 30-year-old forward has 11 years of experience playing in the NBA and will provide three-point shooting for a team that has struggled in that department all season. Wright has a close relationship with Dwyane Wade and Erik Spoelstra, so there will be familiarity there and he may actually play a big role considering how much Gerald Green has struggled recently.
