With the holiday season in full swing, sales figures for both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are in and it turns out that the extra seven day head start that Sony had in November has led to the PlayStation 4 having the largest console launch in history. Now, on the wave of that news, Sony has promised some "epic" announcements in the coming year.

According to IGN, Guy Longworth, senior VP of PlayStation brand marketing, said that Sony is working on supplying the PS4 with games, and that the company has some "epic stuff still under wraps." He later added that he cannot wait for the 2014 E3 gaming conference as Sony will likely be shedding some light on just what it has been working on over the course of this year.

"We're working on lots of exciting updates and features which we'll get to you as soon as we possibly can," Longworth continued in the PlayStation Blog.

There have been a lot of rumors surrounding Sony's new product lines such as a patent that shows an update to the PlayStation Move controller complete with a track pad, such as the one found on the new Dualshock 4 controller. There have also been rumors that the company is developing a VR headset to rival the Oculus Rift, which has been picking up steam ever since this year's E3 and recently raised an additional $75 million to get the product to market.

IGN also notes that Sony recently teased a new Uncharted title at the PlayStation 4 All Access event and a series of tweets from the trailer's voice actor have shed a little more light on the production of the game.
