Melissa McCarthy is known as being one of the most hilarious actresses in the business, and on Sunday, April 10, she'll be honored for the many laughs that she has brought us over the years.

The 45-year-old "Bridesmaids" actress, whose new movie "The Boss" comes out this Friday, will receive the Comedic Genius Award at the 2016  MTV Movie Awards. This is the third year that MTV is giving away this prestige award, which funny guys Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart have won in the past, making McCarthy the first ever female to win.

"Honoring Melissa McCarthy with 'MTV's Comedic Genius Award' is exciting on so many levels, it's the first time this award is going to a woman which is fantastic," said Casey Patterson, an executive producer for the Movie Awards. "We love Melissa for her performances but she also writes, produces and directs comedy, so this award is incredibly well deserved. The most exciting thing about Melissa is how brave she is, you don't want to miss her moment in the show."

McCarthy has previously won MTV Movie Awards in the past, including Best Comedic Performance for her hilarious role in "Bridesmaids" in 2012. She also won the award for Best Jaw Dropping/WTF Moment for the same film.

The actress has also made a difference in the fashion world. She recently launched her very own plus-size clothing line because even though she's lost weight recently, she's someone who has always struggled to find outfits she liked for major events and doesn't want other women to have to go through this.

"People don't stop at size 12," she explained last year. "I feel like there's a big thing missing where you can't dress to your mood above a certain number. [Malls] segregate plus-size [women]. It's an odd thing that you can't go shopping with your friends because your store is upstairs hidden by the tire section. We'll put you gals over there because we don't want to see you and you probably don't want to be seen. There is just this weird thing about how we perceive women in this country. I would love to be a part of breaking that down."
