Crossed wires and wrong assumptions may have led to the absence of Melissa McCarthy in the "Gilmore Girls" revival, but the actress harbors no animosity toward the show. The actress who played Sookie St. James for seven seasons on The WB/CW series is actually looking forward to the show's return on Netflix.

McCarthy is one of the few (if only) cast members not reprising their roles for the revival, which is currently in production at Warner Bros. Studios. "The Boss" star is still "thrilled" that the revival is happening and she will be firing up Netflix just like every other "Gilmore Girls" fan when new episodes hit the streaming service later this year.

"I didn't actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was," the 45-year-old actress said. "I'm actually thrilled that it's happening. I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them."

"Gilmore Girls" will return with four 90-minute episodes written and directed by the creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, and her husband/writing-producing partner, Daniel Palladino. The four main leads - Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop - will all reprise their roles as well as a number of recurring cast members, big and small.

McCarthy did find time recently to reunite with her co-star Yanic Truesdale, who played her Dragonfly Inn co-worker, Michel Gerard. The two actors met for drinks earlier this month and snapped a photo of their happy reunion on Instagram.

Scotch, great meal and catching up with my old friend @melissamccarthy, can't ask for more! Dont read anything into it guys.

The four new episodes will likely put a cap on the "Gilmore Girls" story, but if Sherman-Palladino and the cast decided to get together for a few more, McCarthy is game to get back in the kitchen.

"I want to cook again. I want to put salt and then stir," she joked. "That was seven years of my life and it was really great. I was proud of that show."

McCarthy's new movie, "The Boss," hits theaters on April 8. She's also part of the female-led "Ghostbusters" reboot, premiering on July 15.

"Gilmore Girls: Seasons" will start streaming on Netflix some time later this year.
