Former New England Patriots tight end Scott Chandler's 2015 season didn't turn out the way he had hoped, and now he may have to call it a career after another knee surgery.

The former Bills and Patriots tight end used his Facebook account to post a message following his second ACL surgery in his career, thanking his wife and his family.

"Another knee surgery yesterday. This game gives and takes. This surgery will take me out of next season and probably keep me from playing again," Chandler wrote. "But luckily for me I am surrounded by helpful caring people who will be there when I'm in need. The Lord has blessed me beyond measure in my career but even more so with my family and friends."

Chandler has been a true NFL journeyman throughout his career, as he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers, and he ended up with both the Cowboys and Giants on both their active rosters and practice squads before finding a home in Buffalo. In five seasons with the Bills, Chandler recorded 182 receptions for 2,120 yards and scored 17 touchdowns.

Chandler did not have the explosive year that he was looking for in New England in 2015, but he still proved to be a viable option, recording 23 receptions for 259 yards and scoring four touchdowns. He spent a majority of the season as the second tight end option behind star tight end Rob Gronkowksi, but he stepped up big when needed, as he played his best game against the Philadelphia Eagles when Gronkowski was ruled out with a knee injury. Chandler recorded four catches for 61 yards and a touchdown in that game, but New England was unable to come away with the win. The Patriots released Chandler earlier this offseason with a failed physical designation.

Chandler's wife, Alissa, added a message to her husband's post on Twitter, writing, "blessed beyond measure by this man that I get to call my husband. Looking forward to many more years and adventures."
