Miley Cyrus will not make her official debut as a coach on “The Voice” until next season, but the singer is already preparing for her upcoming gig by acting as a key advisor to contestants this season in the knockout stage of the competition. When the singer first decided to join “The Voice” as the key advisor for season, she didn’t know what she was getting herself into with the competition show.

"I didn't really know what to expect from the show, I didn't realize how real it was," Cyrus said. "It's about making things your own ... Being yourself."

She then revealed exactly what it was about “The Voice” that made her want to be a part of the show.

"I love being with these artists because we've seen little changes made, and it being a new song, a new person," she continued. "You have this platform to bring light to people and to bring hope to people, and I think that's what this show does."

On Monday night’s episode, Cyrus worked with all fours teams to try and give the contestants the best advice she could. In the knockouts, two contestants battle against each other, but unlike the battle rounds, the contests perform at separate times and sing different songs. Cyrus was very good with the contestants, was a little more reserved than she usually comes across as and offered them all some great advice.

For the first time since “The Voice” premiered in 2011, the show will have two female judges next season. Cyrus and Alicia Keys will both be coaches of season 11 of “The Voice” and will take the place of departing coaches Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams. The two ladies will join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, both who have been on the show since the beginning.

“It's true! I am going to be the newest coach on Season 11 of The Voice @nbcthevoice #thevoice,” Cyrus captioned a picture of her on Instagram, confirming that she would partake next season. “Watch me mentor and then season 11 shit is gonna go offffff! I can't wait!”

Keys has also served in the key mentor roll that Cyrus took on this season, but during season seven in 2014.

“The musical expertise and energy these two incredibly talented women will bring to the show is remarkable,” Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of alternative and late-night programming said. “We’re thrilled that they’ll be joining Adam and Blake in what we know will be a magical 11th season.”
