Disney's live-action movie, "The Jungle Book," features an all-star cast that only needed to provide their voices for the exotic animals that inhabit Mowgli's world. In a new set of photos from Disney, the actors pose alongside their larger-than-live CGI characters which they bring to life in the film by Jon Favreau.

Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong'o, Christopher Walken, Ben Kinglsey, Giancarlo Esposito and Scarlett Johansson all posed with their characters. The photo shoot included the Bengal tiger Shere Khan (Elba), the mother wolf Raksha (Nyong'o), the gorilla King Louie (Walken), the black panther Bagheera (Kingsley), the alpha-male wolf Akela (Esposito) and the massive python Kaa (Johansson). Not pictured is Bill Murray with the big bear, Baloo.

"The Jungle Book" is a reimaging of Disney's 1967 animated feature of the same name and follows the young boy Mowgli, played by newcomer Neel Sethi, who is raised in the jungle by a pack of wolves, a bear and a black panther. The latter two help Mowgli escape from Shere Khan, who will not allow man to live in the jungle, and guide him on a journey of self-discovery.

Check out the photos of the stars and their animal characters below.

Shere Khan (Idris Elba)

Left with many scars from man, the Bengal tiger has a deep-seated hatred for humans and is determined to banish man-cub Mowgli from the jungle. "Shere Khan reigns with fear," Elba said. "He terrorizes everyone he encounters because he comes from a place of fear."

Raksha (Lupita Nyong'o)

The mother wolf cares for all her pups include Mowgli, who she adopted when he was abandoned in the jungle as an infant. "She is the protector, the eternal mother," Nyong'o said. "The world Raksha actually means protection in Hindi. I felt really connected to that, wanting to protect a son that isn't originally hers but one she's taken for her own."

King Louie (Christopher Walken)

The great ape desperately wants the secret to Man's deadly "red flower" aka fire and believes Mowgli can give him the answer. "King Louie is huge - 12 feet talk," Walken said. "But he's as charming as he is intimidating when he wants to be."

Bagheera (Ben Kingsley)

The black panther feels a responsibility to leave the jungle with a sense of dignity. "Bagheera is Mowgli's adoptive parent," Kingsley said. "His role in Mowgli's life is to educate, to protect and to guide. My Bagheera was military - he's probably a colonel. He is instantly recognizable by the way he talks, how he acts and what his ethical code is."

Akela (Giancarlo Esposito)

The alpha-male wolf is strong and hardened and carries the full burden of his keeping his family safe. Although he welcomes Mowgli into the pack, he worries the boy's presence could bring harm in the future. "Akela is a fierce patriarch of the wolf pack," Esposito said. "He believes the strength of the pack lies in what each and every wolf offers. He's a great leader, a wise teacher."

Kaa (Scarlett Johansson)

The massive python poses a great danger to Mowgli with her voice and hypnotic gaze as well as her strong embrace. "Kaa seduces and entraps Mowgli with her storytelling," Johansson said. "She's the mirror into Mowgli's past. The way she moves is very alluring, almost coquettish."

"The Jungle Book" hits theaters on April 15.
