After a record-breaking opening weekend, Disney's animated film, "Zootopia," continues to dominate at the U.S. box-office, holding the No. 1 spot for the third straight weekend as the "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" opens to a series low.

"Zootopia" raked in an estimated $38 million over the weekend whereas the Shailene Woodley-Theo James starrer "Allegiant" opened to a disappointing $29.1 million, nearly half of the $54.6 million "Divergent" collected in 2014 and the 52.3 million opening of the sequel "Insurgent" last year.

"Zootopia's" impressive box-office run takes its domestic total to $201.8 million since its release on March 4.

"Word-of-mouth is fueling the run and we're seeing it propel us through the latest shows, and across all audience demos in a way that sets us up well as we head into another week of Spring Break," said Disney distribution head Dave Hollis. "Whether 'Zootopia' is crossing $200M domestically, or being on the cusp of $600M globally this early in its run, both are a testament to the urgency the blistering hot word-of-mouth is creating."

"Allegiant," directed by Robert Schwentke, was made with a budget of $110 million and is Lionsgates's second big-budget film this year to bomb at the box-office after "Gods of Egypt" but Lionsgate president Richie Fay is confident that the film will thrive in the coming weeks.

"This is a solid opening. I do believe that with our audience breakdown and a decent CinemaScore, we'll have traction and play out," Fay said.

Jennifer Garner's faith-based "Miracles From Heaven" came in third place, raking in an estimated $15 million over three days and 18.6 million since it hit theaters on Wednesday.

Paramount's "10 Cloverfield Lane" followed at the No. 4 position with a collection of $12.5 million, which contributed to its 10-day total of $45.7 million. Fox's smash-hit "Deadpool" came in fifth with $8 million in its sixth weekend.
