Google Glass with prescription lenses is no longer a fantasy as a Google employee Brian Matiash leaked the first shots of the high-tech eyewear on his Google+ page.

Google Glass has been in the limelight since it was in development and even after it was announced earlier this year. Of late, several potential buyers and onlookers have been anxiously awaiting a prescription Google Glass and it looks like their wishes are finally coming true. Google community manager Brian Matiash accidentally leaked a pair of photos that show the wearable computer tech with prescription lenses. The post did not last for long as he quickly removed it from the social network site, suggesting it was a simple error.

Introducing prescription lens for Google Glass will work greatly in Google's favor, considering nearly 65 percent of the population wears glasses, contact lenses or has had corrective eye surgery. The latest advancement also backs the previous media reports of Google's talks with VSP Global to develop prescription lenses and fashionable frames.

Google enjoyed being the sole provider of wearable computer tech that is now being challenged by LaForge Optical. The company announced last week that its "Icis" will not only offer smart glass functionalities like taking pictures, recording videos and giving direction, but will also attach prescription lenses. Icis eyewear is currently in its initial stages but has promised a challenging $200 price tag for first 100 buyers, compared to Google $1,500 for its Glass. After the first 100 pieces, the glass will head to Kickstarter campaign and will place for about $400.

It is not clear when Google is planning to release the prescription lenses for its Glass, but it is likely that the second batch of Explorers will get lucky. After all a post from October revealed that Google Glass will come with "future lines of shades and prescription frames, and we'll also include a mono earbud."
