Scotland became the first team to be eliminated from ICC T20 World Cup 2016 after its second consecutive loss in qualifying rounds. Zimbabwe beat Scotland by 11 runs in Nagpur on Thursday. Batting first, the Hamilton Masakadza-led side made 147 for seven in 20 overs. Sean Williams (53) and Elton Chigumbura (20) top scored for Zimababwean side. Scotland, in reply, were bowled out at 136 in 20th over.

"It was a difficult start for us, they bowled well up front and we had the chance to have a crack at the end. We knew we had to be positive, and had that partnership with Richie Berrington gone on another two or three overs, we might have made it," Scotland's skipper, Preston Mommsen, said.

Hong Kong also crashed out of the tournament after a six-wicket loss against Afghanistan in their second qualifying match, played at Nagpur on Thursday. Afghanistan thrashed Hong Kong by six wickets to post their second consecutive victory in the tournament. Batting first, Hong Kong was restricted to 166 for six in 20 overs. Afghanistan comfortably chased down the modest target with six wickets and two overs to spare. The loss means an early exist for Hong Kong from the International Cricket Council Twenty20 World Cup 2016.
