Oman registered a two-wicket victory over dominant Ireland in their ICC T20 World Cup opener in Dharamshala on Wednesday. Batting first, Ireland posted 154 for five in 20 overs. In reply, opening batsmen Zeeshan Maqsood (38 off 33) and Khalid Ali (34 off 26) powered Oman to chase down 155 with two wickets and two balls to spare.

"God was with us and we were trying to get boundaries in every over. "We've done a lot of hard work before coming to the World Cup, and finally it has paid off," Oman's Aamer Ali said.

The Netherlands, on the other hand, lost their opening World T20 game, which was played against Bangladesh at Dharamshala on Wednesday. Bangladesh bowlers successfully defended the 153 target by restricting the Dutch to 145 for seven in 20 overs.

Dutch skipper Peter Borren said that he was very disappointed. "The 16th over (actually 17th) from Mortaza was probably the one that's killed us I think. Two overs and the big wicket of Roelof van der Merwe. Very disappointed to have got us into a position where we should have won the game and not closed it out. Obviously credit to the Bangladeshi bowlers. Taskin hardly missed a yorker. But in saying that, very disappointing not to win having been in that situation," Borren said.

The probable squads:

Oman- Sultan Ahmed, Aamir Kaleem, Amir Ali, Munis Ansari, Jatinder Singh, Khawar Ali, Ajay Lalcheta, Mehran Khan, Mohammad Nadeem, Rajeshkumar Ranpura, Sufyan Mehmood, Vaibhav Wategaonkar, Yousuf Mahmood, Arun Poulose, Zeeshan Ahmad, Zeeshan Maqsood

Netherlands- Wesley Barresi, Ahsan Malik, Peter Borren, Mudassar Bukhari, Ben Cooper, Vivian Kingma, Stephan Myburgh, Max O'Dowd, Michael Rippon, Pieter Seelaar, Sikander Zulfiqar, Logan van Beek, Timm van der Gugten, Roelof van der Merwe, Paul van Meekeren
