Mariah Carey may already be a five-time Grammy award-winner, but her latest compliment  from the First Lady is another special achievement to add to her list. Today.com reports that Michelle Obama includes the legendary singer's music on her holiday playlist, which she refers to as "phenomenal."

Music ranging from "'A Charlie Brown Christmas,' as well as James Taylor, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, and Nat King Cole" fill the White House each year.

In the December/January issue of Ladie's Home Journal, the First Lady opened up about her family's holiday traditions and having Christmas at the most famous house in America.

"We have a reception almost twice a day, every day, until December 21," she said. "That means hors d'oeuvres and eggnog and cookies for every guest who comes through. The house smells incredible for an entire month."

Daughters Malia and Sasha as well as her husband Barack spend a lot of time entertaining guests, Sasha having been deemed the resident cookie maker for guests, though due to their busy schedules, the Obamas themselves have "very little time" to eat. As for decorations, the White House is filled with trees of all shapes and sizes, with the Christmas tree in the Blue Room dedicated to members to service men and women with special ornaments.

As for what the Obamas get their children for the holidays, the First Lady said that the girls are reminded that they already have everything they need.

"The kids are not in the habit of viewing Christmas as a time for getting gifts," she said. "It's about spending time with family and gathering with friends."
