Equipay is a new app that makes sure everyone pays their share at the dinner table, dividing the check up according to race and gender. The app was the idea of comedian Luna Malbroux, but it appears to be no laughing matter.

Equipay operates on the system of equality based on the fact that women are estimated to be paid about 77 cents for every dollar a man earns. It goes even further, equating race into the equation as well, like how a black woman supposedly earns 64 cents for every white male dollar, according to Breitbart.

"I hope that this, more than anything, starts a discussion and helps people to start thinking a little bit differently about how we can use more technology and more innovation to address inequality and wage inequality," said Melbroux in an interview with Care2.

The app has other features as well. It allows users to share their experience with the app over social media.

The app is free to use, unless you are of the "high privileged" group. In which case there is a surcharge, which goes toward subsidizing meals for others and charity.

The app is available for Android, with a version for IOS users coming soon.
