"Lip Sync Battle" is going kid-friendly. Spike and Nickelodeon announced Monday that they are teaming up to develop "Lip Sync Battle Jr.," a spinoff of the highly successful Spike sing-along series "Lip Sync Battle," Variety reported.

The new G-rated series will pit kids against each other to lip-sync their hearts out in an effort to celebrate kids and their love of music and comedy. A "Lip Sync Battle Jr." special will air later this year on both Spike and Nickelodeon before it becomes a series.

"On the long list of wonderful surprises about 'Lip Sync Battle' is our family co-viewing," the show's executive producers Casey Patterson and Jay Peterson told Variety in a joint statement. "'Lip Sync Battle's' multigenerational appeal is our favorite part of the show and the whole 'Lip Sync Battle' family is very excited about developing a new music based, comedy variety format to showcase how much our 'Lip Sync Battle' kids rock! It's all the fun of 'Lip Sync Battle,' only smaller."

The show was first introduced as a segment on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" and later became a series on Spike TV in April 2015 after NBC originally passed on the idea, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fallon as well as Stephen Merchant, Casey Patterson Entertainment and John Krasinski serve as producers on the show.

"Lip Sync Battle," co-hosted LL Cool J with Chrissy Teigen, is reportedly Spike's most-watched original series, averaging more than 4 million viewers, according to Deadline.com.

The show is in its second season, and it's already been renewed for a third. Season two premiered in January with married couple Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum battling it out on stage. Other participants of the show include Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Kevin Hart, Kaley Cuoco, Dwayne Johnson and Fallon.

"Lip Sync Battle" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on Spike.
