High tide, bad weather and still-developing swimming skills are what left a baby otter all alone and washed ashore in Scotland. He lost his mother and family, possibly forever, but luckily, he wandered to the right doorstep in Kirkcudbright. His cries alerted the homeowners and they called the National Wildlife Rescue Center, part of the Scottish SPCA.

Now, he's being cared for and loved by the workers at the National Wildlife Rescue Center, who named him Buddy. He has been introduced to three other baby otters - Ebb, Tide and Wave - that suffered a similar fate, and now they have their own little family unit. They will all be released back into the wild when they're big and strong enough, reported the Dodo.

For now, Buddy's being fed lots of fish and milk by the staff at the Center.

"This is a very hazardous time for young otters as they can easily be washed out of their holts by high rivers and, at this age, they are not strong swimmers," said the Scottish SPCA on its Facebook page.

You can donate to the Scottish SPCA on its website, and you'll be helping them care for Buddy and his other baby otter friends.
