Telltale Games, the developer company behind the popular interactive story game based on the hit AMC TV drama "The Walking Dead" might be working on a game based on another extremely popular television drama - Game of Thrones.

The news comes from IGN, which cites "multiple sources" that the game company is currently working on creating a game similar to "The Walking Dead" set in George R. R. Martin's fantasy universe that the hit HBO series is based on.

As the gaming site notes, "Game of Thrones" is not actually the name of the original book series. "A Song of Ice and Fire" is the actual name of the story with the first book in the series being title "Game of Thrones."  Therefore, it's unclear if the game form Telltale will be based on the show, the books or something completely different but centered in the same universe.

One thing to keep in mind is that George R. R. Martin's books focus on a new character in each chapter a story-telling strategy that Telltale recently pioneered into gaming with "The Walking Dead's 400 Days" DLC.

When asked to comment on the rumor, Telltale responded with the following statement:

"We get these sorts of rumors about what we could be working on next cropping up all the time. Officially we have no comment."

The development company has a history of turning high-profile licensed properties into games. For example, Jurassic Park and Back to the Future have all been retold by Telltale as video games.

As IGN notes, in October, CEO Dan Connors said the company "can't wait" to announced its upcoming project and said that it's working on licenses that "definitely fall into our dream IP scenario."

If the company were working on a game set in the "Game of Thrones" world, it would be joining recent announcements such as "Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms," a browser-based MMO; a Game of Thrones RPG by Atlus and a strategy titled "Game of Thrones: Genesis" from Focus Home Interactive.
