Before LG's next flagship phone, the G5, is unveiled, it has announced two mid-range devices, which have piqued the interest of Android watchers. Dubbed the Specialist X series, the two devices aim to buck the trend of one-size-fits-all approach by offering specialized features in the company's bid to appeal to different market segments.

"Everyone has a favorite smartphone feature," Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said in an official statement. "At LG, we think there's room for devices that do one thing very well and that customers shouldn't have to pay for features that they don't want. At the end of the day, we're committed to offering consumers more choices."

The two Specialist devices, which will debut at the Mobile World Congress on Feb. 22, are called X cam and X screen, respectively. Obviously, the first focuses on a stellar camera feature while the latter sports top-of-the-line display, with an Always On Second Screen previously seen in the high-end LG V10 handset. The X screen's Second Screen is located above the main 4.93-inch HD In-Cell Touch display and leverages a unique multi-tasking experience. "With the 1.76 inch Second Screen, users can easily access frequently used apps, answer calls without interrupting the current activity or just play music," LG explained.

While the X cam does not have the Second Screen feature, it will be outfitted with a curved glass finish that LG calls the 3D Bending Glass, according to Pocket Lint. Both handsets will have 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storge and run Android Marshmallow. The two have different processors, camera resolution and battery life.

Pricing has not been revealed but LG promises to roll out the handsets in Asia, Europe and Latin America markets next month, Engadget reported
