A company in Japan has developed a smartphone that is capable of being washed in soap and water, according to Engadget.

Actually, it's only in the U.S. that water-resistant phones are even somewhat unique, as Japan has been making most of its products capable of withstanding a splash in the pool and a drop in a full sink.

But the newest invention by Kyocera called the Dingo Rafre has people talking because it is the first of its kind to be able to stand the full assault of a downright bath - intentionally exposing one's phone to water and soap for a prolonged period of time.

"The company is also boasting that the display of the phone has a touch panel that when wet will continue to work," reported Uber Gizmo. " It also comes with a finish that can apparently heal itself from scratches, similar to what LG has included in some of its devices previously. The phone also comes with Kyocera's Smart Sonic Receiver, a bone conducting technology that provides audio without the need for a speaker."

Commercials also present the phone as an asset to the accident prone, including parents with young children, according to the Verge.
