Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for USA Network's "Mr. Robot."

When Mr. Robot returns sometime this summer for its second season, two central mysteries will be put at the forefront: Elliot's teetering sanity and his uncertain past and the return of Dark Army leader White Rose.

Towards the end of season one Elliot (Rami Malek) finally discovers that Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) is actually just a figment of his imagination. As we discovered, Mr. Robot is a manifestation of Elliot's long dead father. This revelation will lead to some interesting twists and turns.

Malek spoke about how this discovery will impact Elliot in season two.

"There's an aspect of Elliot not realizing it, so I thought, why pay any attention to it in the first place," Malek told TV Insider when asked his interactions with Mr. Robot will change now that he knows the truth. "Why not make it as real as anything else, and have that come back to haunt him later on? That would make the most impact on his evolution as a character, and what would be most surprising and dangerous for him, would be the shattering thought or realization that something so vibrant and visceral was just a figment of his imagination."

Creator and showrunner Sam Esmail explained that season two will explore the fallout of Elliot's revelation.

"This whole show has been about Elliot's emotional journey, so Season 2 is about how Elliot reconciles the fact that he's seeing this fantasy," Esmail said. "It's going to be about Elliot really negotiating with himself since that's a tough pill to swallow. There will be a lot more backstory that will be shown. The timeline is going to get a little cleaner."

The other important storyline of season two will be the return of BD Wong's White Rose, the mysterious leader of the Dark Army.

"He was so amazing in the first season I would be stupid not to use him more this season," Esmail said of Wong. "But I do have to use him sparingly because he's got such a great mystery around him."

"Mr. Robot" is expected to return to USA Network for season two sometime this summer.
