In the most heartwarming story to come out of the "what are the odds" category, a very lucky fox cub was saved by a Virginia couple out for a hike. Beau Ouimette and his wife, who happens to be a veterinarian, heard a faint, almost inaudible cry, according to Animal Planet. The noise was coming from a small female fox cub. Alarmingly, the cub had dry blood and an open wound on her neck, more than likely from an attack from a rival animal.

The couple acted quickly and grabbed the fox by wrapping it in a jacket and taking it home. Back at home, the Ouimettes nursed their cub guest back to health by feeding her milk, playing with her and tending to her wound with bandages and medicine.

Just days later, the reinvigorated cub was interactive and happy in her temporary home. She naturally came out of her cage when coaxed by her caregivers, reported Closer.

In a bittersweet ending to this tale of bravery and love, the Ouimettes soon drove their new friend to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Centre in Virginia, as they believe it best for the fox cub to be free and with other fellow foxes in the wild.
