Stephen Colbert had the honor of following up Super Bowl 50 with a special episode of "The Late Show," where President Obama was on hand in a pre-tapped segment to help him open the show that also included troops in Afghanistan, astronaut Mark Kelly and Chewbacca.

In the skit, which Colbert initially pretended was live, Colbert pretended to throw the president a football and then asked him if he had watched the big game.

"Of course I did," Obama said. "After every Super Bowl I call the winning team to congratulate them, and sometimes I also call the losing team, especially if I bet on them."

Colbert then informed the president that gambling was illegal, to which Obama joked, "I'm the president. I hereby pardon myself."

In spite of filming the segment a week early, the president told Colbert who the winner of Super Bowl 50 was.

"It was the Denver Broncos," Obama replied. "Stephen, I'm the president and it turns out all the Super Bowl winners for the next 50 years are written on the back of the Constitution. That's the plot to 'National Treasure 3.'"
