Looks like Jennifer Lopez will remain on your small screens a little while longer. The cop drama "Shades of Blue," in which Lopez both stars and services as an executive producer, has been renewed for a second season, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke announced Friday.

"We want to thank Jennifer, who is the hardest working woman we know, for her incredible efforts as both the star and producer of this show, as well as well as our other amazing producers and cast for all their tireless work in creating one of the most compelling dramas on television today," Salke said in a statement, according to TV Line.

"We're so excited to find out where this story will lead and have them raise the stakes even higher in what we know will be a fantastic second season," the statement continued.

The good news comes only five episodes into the show's first season.

Despite not having any serious competition for Thursday night viewership (for now), the freshmen drama's most recent episode drew 5.6 million viewers and a 1.1 rating. However, viewership is down from its strong series premiere last month which clocked in at 8.6 million viewers and a 1.8 rating. The series has improved on its time slot by an average of 38 percent. The series averaged 11.2 million total viewers in L+3 ratings across its first three episodes.

"Shades of Blue" follows Lopez as Harlee Santos, "a charismatic single mother and resourceful detective at the heart of a tight-knit crew of Brooklyn detectives, led by enigmatic Lt. Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta)," a synopsis of the show reads, according to Deadline.com. "The FBI catches Harlee in the act and pits her against her own unit. As a newly turned informant, Harlee struggles to safeguard her on-the-job family and avoid arrest in order to stay with her daughter."

The series also stars Drea de Matteo, Warren Kole, Santino Fontana, Vincent Laresca, Hampton Fluker and Sarah Jeffery.

Lopez is currently juggling a jam-packed schedule, including her full-time gig as a judge on the final season of "American Idol" and her newly launched Las Vegas residency show, "All I Have."

Shades of Blue airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
