Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has struggled to stay out of the spotlight since entering the NFL, and not for good reasons, as he has had multiple issues regarding both alcohol and domestic incidents that have only seem to grown worse with time. Reports were released on Thursday that Manziel had allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, but the Dallas Police Department has filed no charges.

The Browns are reportedly expected to move on from Manziel in March, and now his agent, Erik Burkhardt, has decided to part ways with him. "It is with deep regret that, after several emotional and very personal discussions with his family, his doctors, and my client himself, I have made the decision to terminate my professional relationship with Johnny Manziel," Burkhart said in a statement.

"Though I will remain a friend and Johnny supporter, and he knows I have worked tirelessly to arrange a number of professional options for him to continue to pursue, it has become painfully obvious that his future rests solely in his own hands. His family and I have gone to great lengths to outline the steps we feel he must take to get his life in order. Accountability is the foundation of any relationship, and without it, the function of my work is counterproductive." The full statement can be seen below.

Manziel has since denied the reports of the alleged assault and has stated that he is 100 percent focused on playing football. "We're trying to get our son better," Manziel's father, Paul Manziel, said via Dallas' News 8. "We're not there yet."

"I truly believe if they can't get him help, he won't live to see his 24th birthday," Manziel's father said via The Dallas Morning News. Manziel improved his play on the field this past season, but his off field actions could cost him a chance to play for an NFL franchise. The NFL has stated that they are investigating the incident that happened this past weekend, and Manziel's future in the NFL right now looks murky, at best.
