WARNING: The following contains potential spoilers for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is now less than two months away, and fans still haven't unearthed every single piece of critical information, an impressive feat in today's spoiler age. One mystery that fans thought they had solved long ago was the identity of Scoot McNairy's character.

Originally, those in the know believed McNairy was playing the nebbishy but lovable Jimmy Olsen, the photographer at the Daily Planet. However, recent set photos have led to a new theory.

McNairy has been seen wearing green knee-high socks on set, which are generally used for digital alteration. Now we may know why. Recent trailers have shown McNairy's character in a wheelchair, suggesting he lost his legs during the Battle of Metropolis in "Man of Steel." This will be important to his character.

"According to our sources, McNairy's wheelchair-bound character will be brought in to testify against Superman to the U.S. Senate, but also becomes a victim of Lex Luthor's campaign against the Man of Steel," Kelvin Chavez of Latino Review wrote. "One of Luthor's schemes in the movie involves turning McNairy's character into a human bomb of sorts, radicalizing him, in an attempt to get him close to Superman and to hurt him."

This is still an unconfirmed rumor, but if true, it's about as far away as you can get from Jimmy Olsen. In the comics, Olsen is an affable sidekick with a good heart. He'd never turn on Superman like this or resort to terrorism. Instead, it sounds like McNairy's character is another example of Jesse Eisenberg's Machiavellian cunning as Lex Luthor. The mad genius clearly doesn't mind racking up collateral damage or playing dirty in his quest to destroy Superman.

How will it all play out? We'll have to wait to find out.

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theaters on March 25.
