As you very well know, Wonder Woman will be making her live-action big screen debut in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." Gal Gadot ("Furious 7") will be portraying the Amazonian warrior before getting her own standalone movie in 2017. This is the opposite approach Marvel Studios took with its superhero films, setting each character up in their own solo adventure before the ultimate crossover "Avengers" series. Why didn't Snyder want to follow the same path?

"It was incredibly organic how Wonder Woman came into the story," Snyder told Empire Magazine. "The whole concept of, 'Let's not save anything. Let's try it all.' Then Wonder Woman's entrance made us realize we were much closer to the Justice League than we thought. We realized we were one movie away."

The feature story also has Snyder revealing that Wonder Woman is 5,000-years-old (she looks great for her age) with Gadot saying that she's taken a step back from the super hero game by the time "Dawn of Justice" arrives.

"Because she's seen it all, she has seen what humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight," Gadot said. "They have the same attitude. Although when she is Diana she tried to blend in, she is not too outgoing. I don't people to think she is perfect. She can be naughty."

Though "Dawn of Justice" takes place in the present, the "Wonder Woman" standalone movie will largely take place around World War II. The film will explore how different women were treated back then and how our titular hero dealt with it.

"Her sexuality is part of her power, but she is also a feminist icon. Gender has been a hot topic, so it is very timely to bring her back," Gadot explained. "The way we have approached it, especially in the stand alone movie, that is definitely there. Looking back an doing an origin story - an it is a period piece - see the role of women through history. There is a great source of humor in that now. It is so unbelievable you can't even fathom it. You are still making a statement, but having some fun with it."

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens on March 25. "Wonder Woman" will arrive on June 23, 2017.
