South Africa is hosting England for four Tests, five ODIs and two T20Is. The visitors have won the preceding Test series by 2-1, according to SABC. The series loss also cost South Africa its number one ICC Test Ranking.

"There are no soft series or less important series, they are all important, particularly coming off a Test series loss," said South African coach Russell Domingo, according to Times Live.

England, on the other hand, is looking to maintain its winning momentum and is keen to utilize ODI as well as T20 series as a preparation for upcoming T20 World Cup.
