Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck's 2015 season did not go the way he, or the team, planned. He missed nine total games and seven consecutive games at the end of the season with a lacerated kidney. Despite the injury-plagued year, the Colts have as much confidence as ever in the former first overall draft pick and believe they can sign Luck to an extension this offseason, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport.

Luck was developing into one of the best quarterbacks in the league his first three seasons in the NFL, and during the 2014 season finished third in the league with 4,761 yards and threw more touchdowns than anyone with 40 TD passes. Luck is viewed as one of the best up-and-coming quarterbacks in the league, and some have speculated that his contract could be similar to Russell Wilson's with the Seattle Seahawks.

Luck is set to play on a $16.12 million team option in 2016, but the Colts will look to lock him up with a long-term contract this offseason. Luck turns 27 at the beginning of the 2016 regular season, and prior to the 2015 season had not missed a game since being drafted. The Colts missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record but finished only a game behind the AFC South-winning Houston Texans.

The Colts made the playoffs each of the first three seasons with Luck starting at quarterback and will look to make it back there next season with their franchise quarterback signed to a long-term contract.
