The Carolina Panthers already have a dominant backfield heading into Super Bowl 50, but that doesn't mean they have stopped looking towards the future, as the organization is "very high" on Alabama senior running back Kenyan Drake in the 2016 NFL Draft, according to Draft Insider Tony Pauline.

Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry saw a bulk of Alabama's carries this season, but Drake made the most of his opportunities and proved to be a versatile back that can both run between the tackles and catch passes out of the backfield. Drake has reportedly drawn comparisons with NFL running back Reggie Bush during the 2016 Senior Bowl, and he could be a potential strong third-down passing running back in the league.

Drake was a big part of Alabama's National Championship run, as he rushed over 400 yards but also had 29 receptions for 276 yards his senior year. "He's a player who you have to have a plan for because he's not an every-down back and he's too lean to be in around the goal line," said one NFC West Scout, via NFL Network. "I see him as a third down back with special teams qualities and those guys get drafted in the fifth round or later."

While some scouts don't believe that Drake will be off the board before the fifth round, the Alabama running back clearly improved his draft stock this week. Teams are likely interested in his ability to line up as a slot receiver, as well as his ability to bounce outside of defenses once the ball is in his hands. It will be interesting to see where Drake lands in the 2016 NFL Draft, but the Panthers will likely be keeping a close eye on him and may look to grab him in the mid to late rounds.
