While Mariah Carey is all smiles these days following her engagement to James Packer, she has revealed that she isn't ready to share the exciting news with her 4-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan just yet.

"I haven't talked to them about it completely because they are so young, so they don't really understand things yet, so you have to go slowly and explain things and always make sure they know that this is only going to be good for them," the 45-year-old singer told E! News while getting ready to launch her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour in Europe next month. "Their lives are not going to change.... For me, as long as we are together and they have a great relationship with their dad, then that's great. It's good. And they are great."

Carey was previously married to comedian Nick Cannon, and the two have kept things civil for the sake of their children ever since they split in 2014 after six years of marriage. As soon as he got word of the engagement, Cannon took to Instagram to congratulate the happy couple with a funny meme, which only proves that the two are doing a good job of working together to co-parent their children.

"I think we are trying our best. I really do," continued Carey. "I know I am trying my best and I think he is too. I know they love being with him and it's nice, and I will always say positive things about him to the kids."

Carey just hopes that growing up with two famous parents and a billionaire stepdad won't affect the kids in any way.

"Between Nick and what he does for them and then what I do for them, I just think please don't let these kids be spoiled," she joked. "I have to reel it in."

Packer has been great with the kids as well, and even spent this past Christmas with them in Aspen, Colo.

"It's obvious that [James] cares about Mariah's kids," a source told People at the time. "He is a businessman first, but when he is around, he is great with the kids."
