Mariah Carey and James Packer are engaged! The couple got engaged on Thursday in New York City, according to TMZ. The 45-year-old "We Belong Together" singer and the 48-year-old Australian billionaire businessman started dating less than a year ago and made their red carpet debut in September at the New York premiere of "The Intern," after they were spotted getting cozy in Capri, Italy in June.

Packer popped the question in the presence of Carey's close friends at the Eleven Madison Park and gave her the most amazing diamond ring, weighing in at a whopping 35 carats, E! reported.

Packer will be Carey's third husband, having been previously married to "America's Got Talent" host Nick Cannon, with whom she parted ways in August 2014. Cannon, who is the father Carey's two children, filed for divorce in January 2015. Carey was also married to music executive Tommy Mottola for five years, according to US Weekly.

Packer, who ranks fourth on the list of Australia's richest men, has also been married twice before and has three children of his own with ex-wife Erica Baxter.
