Warning: The following contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Despite the general awesomeness of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," there were a handful of things us nitpickers would have liked to seen done differently. One change fans have lobbied for is more background on Gwendoline Christire's Captain Phasma.

When the first trailers for "The Force Awakens" began to drop, fans immediately pegged the chrome stormtrooper as the next Boba Fett. Unfortunately, Christie was only featured in a few scenes and her character did not receive nearly enough to rival the impressive bounty hunter. However, Christie spoke to People while on the red carpet at the SAG awards this weekend and confirmed her return for "Star Wars: Episode VIII," meaning there's still a chance she could become the badass we all hoped for.

"I will be in the next Star Wars movie," she said. "I think that's an exclusive, actually."

Though this is the first official confirmation fans have gotten, it shouldn't come as a complete surprise. Both Christie and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy talked up the character to the LA Times last year.

"She's an important character, a baddie in the best sense of the word," Kennedy said.

Given that Phasma managed to survive "The Force Awakens" and now has added incentive to hunt down Finn after being held captive, her character should be featured more in Rian Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII." At the very least, the movie should give her a badass fight scene. Otherwise, what has been the point of building up this interchangeable villain?

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" will arrive on Dec. 15, 2017.
