Watch out for more Captain Phasma in the next "Star Wars" film. Gwendoline Christie will reprise her role as the commander of the First Order's stormtroopers.

"I will be in the next 'Star Wars' movie," Christie told People.

Captain Phasma was originally conceived as a male, only changing to female three weeks before filming began on "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Christie campaigned hard for the role and was proud to bring a strong female character to the "Star Wars" universe.

"I thought the costume was incredibly striking. I also just liked this notion of a female stormtrooper," the "Game of Thrones" actress said. "I felt it encouraged diversity and it was doing something new and it was an interesting bit of casting for women, and I hope that in something that was such a mainstream success it would breed more of those kind of opportunities for other women."

Christie also appreciated the costume designers not softening Phasma's armor to look more feminine.

"I was struck by how incredible it looked, but also I liked that it was stormtrooper armor," Christie told People earlier in January. "It hadn't been sexualized or feminized in any way. I thought, 'That is interesting. That's very modern.'"

The Phasma character changed the perception of modern toy sales based on female characters. The best-selling "Force Awakens" action was Captain Phasma on Amazon in the U.K.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" will premiere on Dec. 15, 2017.
