Fox is taking viewers back to Rydell High with its upcoming production, "Grease: Live!" Audiences will be invited to sing along with the star-studded cast of the 2016 adaption based on both the classic 1971 musical and 1978 film "Grease," according to Fox, which marks the network's first foray into live televised musical territory.

The TV adaptation, written by Broadway writers Robert Cary and Jonathan Tolins, will tell the timeless high school love story of good girl Sandy (played by "Rock of Ages" star Julianne Hough) and bad boy Danny Zuko (played by Broadway star Aaron Tveit), whose summer romance takes an unexpected turn with Sandy transfers to Zuko's high school, Rydell High. Zuko struggles to maintain his reputation as the leader of the T-Birds, and Sandy tries to fit in with their female counterparts, the Pink Ladies, all while attempting to keep their relationship alive.

Rounding out the cast is "High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens as Pink Lady Rizzo, "Scream Queens" actress Keke Palmer as Pink Lady Marty Maraschino, pop star Carly Rae Jepsen as Pink Lady Frenchy, and "Big Time Rush" actor Carlos PenaVega as T Bird Kenickie, Fox announced.

Recording artists Jessie J, '90s R&B group Boyz II Men and dance pop group DNCE will also make appearances in the live production.

"Grease: Live!" will be produced by Paramount Television, with Marc Platt ("Wicked") as executive producer, Tony Award-nominated Thomas Kail as stage director, and Alex Rudzinkski of "Dancing with the Stars" as live television director.
