Fashion inspired by the 1990s are back in style. At runway shows presenting collections for spring 2016, dark and vampy lipstick, slip dresses and platform shoes dominated the designs, but the neck accessories were the biggest hits.

Chokers are back in and they come decked with a variety of designs in ribbons, gemstones and metals. Thick or thin, these neck pieces are fast becoming a fashionista's must-have accessory this season because it instantly transforms the look, according to Huffington Post. Celebrity models like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Lily Rose Depp have been spotted wearing chokers and the pieces are matched with either jeans and shirts, a cocktail dress or a layered wardrobe, per Stylecaster.

The style is so popular that American Apparel came out with a top that automatically comes with a choker (Choker Top), but for other style ideas on wearing this accessory, you can use skinny tie scarves from Urban Outfitters, or Nasty Gal or Topshop. If you'd like a thinner choker, score the piece with a "diamond" pendant from Forever 21. Or better yet, spend zero dollars and still look your best by tying any black ribbon around your neck if you have one lying around, as suggested by Who What Wear.
