AOA's Chanmi, Yuna, and Hyejeong will be forming a subunit which debuts in the middle of February.

A representative of FNC Entertainment told OSEN (via AllKpop) on Wednesday: "Chanmi, Hyejeong and Yuna will promote as a unit group. They are planned to release a new song in February. We ask for a lot of anticipation."

Fans are expecting a well-pieced release given that Yuna and Hyejeong are main and lead vocalists respectively and Chanmi is AOA's main dancer and lead rapper, reports Soompi.

The MV concept is yet to be revealed but teasers are expected to come in very soon, reports Daily Kpop News.

The trio's project came as a surprise, but it is gathering excitement.

Chanmi, Yuna, and Hyejeong are arguably the most talented but underrated members of the top Kpop girl group so the unit is a great chance to showcase the girls' skills while the other members are still busy.

Seolhyun, Korea's CF queen, is still taping commercials and movies. Mina is doing the series "All About My Mom." Jimin is recording with Ailee while Choa is doing solo songs and other shows.

Following the subunit project, two more AOA releases are expected this year. AOA will comeback with their full line-up in 2016 while AOA Black is reportedly set for a summer comeback.

Last year, AOA won many awards for "Heart Attack," which was released in summer where many other girl groups were dropping songs.
